What is Mental Health First Aid ® (MHFA®)?
MHFA® is an internationally recognised, evidence-based training programme that empowers individuals to provide initial support to someone experiencing mental health problems or crisis, such as suicidal thoughts.
The programme teaches participants how to:
- Recognise early signs of a mental health problem
- Approach the person with care and assess how they’re doing
- Listen and communicate with empathy and confidence
- Encourage professional help and other support
Building a Mentally Healthy Workplace
Mental Health First Aid® helps organisations take a proactive approach to employee wellbeing by strengthening peer support, encouraging early help-seeking, and reducing stigma around mental health. By equipping employees with practical skills and confidence, MHFA® contributes to psychologically safer environments, more resilient teams, and a workplace culture where people feel supported to thrive.

Why Mental Health First Aid ® (MHFA®) matters?
Mental health problems affect people in all areas of life - at schools, at work, at home and in communities. Many of us want to help but often don’t know what to say or do. Without early intervention and support, mental health problems can lead to:

- Reduced ability to function, learn, or work effectively
- Strained relationship with family and friends
- Isolation
- Longer recovery and delayed access to professional help
In Indonesia, where mental health problems are often stigmatised or misunderstood, taking preventative measures can make a meaningful difference.
What you will gain as participants

Feel confident starting mental health conversations -
Respond safely and appropriately during difficult situations

Yes. MHFA® was developed in Australia in 2000 and is now delivered in more than 25 countries worldwide. Naluri is the sole licensed provider of Mental Health First Aid® in Indonesia.
By joining MHFA®, you will:
- Gain practical skills to support someone experiencing mental health difficulties
- Learn how to start and navigate difficult conversations confidently
- Understand how to respond in crisis situations
- Become part of a global network of MHFAiders
You will also receive a Certificate of Completion or Certificate of Accreditation valid for 3 years (subject to completing course requirements).
Beyond certification, the knowledge and skills are valuable in everyday life — at work, at home, and in your community.
The standard MHFA® course is 12 hours of training, typically delivered over 2 days. The training includes discussions, case studies, videos, and practical exercises.
The training will be offered in both English and Bahasa Indonesia. Participants may choose the language that they are most comfortable with.
MHFA® does not train you to become a mental health professional. MHFAiders do not diagnose, do not provide therapy, do not replace professional services.
Instead, they offer early support, listen non-judgmentally, and encourage appropriate professional help — just like physical first aiders assist before medical treatment is available.
No. MHFA® is open to anyone. You may come from a mental health background, a corporate setting, education, healthcare, or no related background at all. No prior expertise is required.
Currently, MHFA® Indonesia offers training primarily for organisations and institutions. Public classes for individual registration are planned to open in mid-2026. You may contact us to express interest and be added to our waiting list.
